3 Simple Steps to Enhance Your Body, Mind, and Money

So, imagine this...

It is five years from now. As you breathe in and turn to look around, what do you see? Who is there with you? What kind of home do you live in, and where is it located? What do you look like, and how are you feeling?

Five years from now may seem far away, or just around the corner. Regardless of how far the future may seem, the truth is that the choices you are making today are shaping exactly what that scene will look like in five years. It all comes down to what you are willing to do each day.

You need to nurture every part of your being. Think of your physical, mental, emotional, social, financial, and spiritual well-being. When you meet the needs of yourself first, you will then be able to reach out and help those in your household, and further on to those in your community. First, it starts with you. You need to make a conscious decision each and every day to do the right things for you.

Take these three simple actions each and every day.

1. Get Moving and Grooving

Get out of your chair during the work day. Get off the sofa at home. Get out of bed a little earlier. Whatever it takes, get moving! Make a new commitment each and every day to move your body. Don't make it about your physical appearance, or it will seem like a chore. Instead, think of the chance to move as the opportunity to celebrate the wonder of the human body. It is incredibly resilient, and it will carry you for the rest of your life. Take care of your body, so it will take care of you.

2. Read 10 Pages of Self-Help Literature

Improving your mental and emotional health is in your hands. If you need help, ask for it. Therapy can be one of the best gifts you ever buy for yourself. Increased self-awareness is worth its weight in gold. In addition to seeking out professional treatment as needed, try reading 10 pages of self-help literature per day. That will just take a few minutes of your day, but it can greatly enrich the days, months, and years ahead.

3. Spend Less and Save More

It's very common for financial health to be neglected even when people take care of themselves otherwise. But it does not have to be that way! Today, when you are tempted to splurge on a small "extra" purchase, consider whether or not it truly makes you happy. Does it enhance your life in a meaningful way, or could it actually be bad for you? Instead of splurging on an unhealthy, sugar-laden coffee drink, make some tea at home, and stash that $5 in savings. If you manage to save just $5 each day, you could stash away $150 each month. That's $1,800 each year.

My challenge for you this week:

Take action to advance your well-being!

  1. List 3 areas of your life that you want to improve.

  2. What daily, intentional actions can you take to make measurable improvements in these 3 areas?

  3. Keep a daily or weekly log to chart your progress.

Do these things and you may wow yourself with how easy it is to ensure a happier you in five years. Be gentle with yourself, and start today with small actions for a better tomorrow!
