Take These Tips!

For years, psychologists have stated that it takes 21 days to form a new habit. Usually, this means turning from a behavior pattern that has run its course or has proven to be ineffective. Tomorrow is the twenty-first day of the new year and, unfortunately, most resolutions have taken a back seat to other priorities. Chances are that those priorities are being set by someone other than you.

Do you fall into this category?

If so, you need self-improvement. This is especially true if things are not going so well, or if disappointing and painful events seem to keep repeating themselves in your life. Things such as the feeling like you are in a bad relationship or the wrong job, or maybe it's just the feeling that you are stuck in a hole with nothing exciting on the horizon to look forward to. You may even be starting to think, "I need something better in my life."

When everything in your life seems to be getting worse or falling apart and you feel unhappy, disappointed, and unmotivated, it is at that point that your mind should be filled with thoughts like, "how can I be a better person?"

You can become a better person and here are two key tips for self-improvement that you can start implementing today:

Associate with positive people

Associating with positive people is of utmost importance if you want to achieve your life goals and objectives. There will always be temporary diversions in your life, and things may not move in the direction you had anticipated. It will be beneficial to have positive people around you that will encourage and motivate you to do what you need to do to change your life and move you in the direction of your anticipated goals.

Focus on your strengths

Instead of focusing on the mistakes you have made or the things that have gone wrong, you need to focus on the things you did right and the things that are consistent with your core values. This will enable you to do those things again, which will in return enhance self-improvement.

Both of these are tips you can follow to initiate self-improvement in your life. Once you begin making these changes, really positive things will start to happen in your life. It only takes making one move and just one action to bring about beneficial changes that will enable you to redesign the life you were born to live.

My challenge for you this week:

Build a foundation of support and accountability that will help you build new habits and and accomplish your goals.

  1. Make a list of three positive people you need to share your life vision and goals.

  2. Contact those people and request their support.

  3. Note the things that you consistently excel at doing.

  4. Determine ways that you can enhance these things?

  5. Commit to spending more time on these strengths.
