Can You Act?

I am a people watcher.  I love engaging people in conversations. As a result of both the watching and the conversations, I experience observational learning, entertainment, and even annoyance.  

 

The observational learning allows me to have the discernment necessary to make myself different than the average person. Of course, I want to give people more than they expect of me in all areas--spirituallymentally, and physically

 

The entertainment that I experience show people's diverse spin on their life experiences. 

 

The annoyance comes from realizing how powerless most people perceive themselves to be. This sense of powerlessness makes people push themselves away from pursuing the experiences that they really desired.

  

Many, many years ago, I decided to live out a philosophy of "fake it until you make it." In other words, act as if you are the person you desire to become. Jordan Belfort says, "Act as if you have unmatched confidence and then people will surely have confidence in you. Act as if you have unmatched experience and then people will follow your advice. And act as if you are already a tremendous success, and you will become successful."

  

This dynamic of "acting out the person you desire to become" works because our moods are not only psychological, but also physiological. When you smile and think positive thoughts, it immediately helps you feel lighter, happier, and more empowered to control the perception of your life experiences. Try it, it really does work!

  

Are people and things getting you down? I constantly give the advice that you must employ courage to identify the things and people that make you feel unhappy and then eliminate them from your life. If you feel as though you cannot totally eliminate them, then compartmentalize them to a very brief amount of your life's time. Free yourself from nonsense! Choose to be on a mission to always seek, find, and embrace happiness, positive people, and experiences.

  

Among my golden rules are do joyful things, watch positive shows and movies, read inspiring books, and hang around positive people. Immerse yourself in the things that empower and motivate you to take action. It takes bravery to take an honest look at your own life and to acknowledge the changes that need to be made.  It also takes courage to act upon those changes. Do it!

  1. If you find yourself plagued by feelings of powerlessness, identify what causes these feelings?

  2. What do you need to "act more like?"

  3. How can you apply my golden rules?

Don't think too hard about answering the above questions. You already know the thoughts, feeling, and actions that are annoying you and preventing you from pursuing the experiences that you really desire!
