Four Common Habits of Successful People
When you take a look at some of the successful people in the world, the money they possess may blind you and the fame upon them may distract your judgment. Under further scrutiny, you will find that certain factors have contributed to their success and popularity. With almost every successful person, there are everyday habits that add to their wealth or lead them to being put in the spotlight. The good news is that you don't have to be a millionaire to follow the same path. All you have to do is emulate these four successful habits to attain success:
Thinking in reverse
All successful people have a common habit of thinking in reverse. As Stephen Covey put it in his wonderful book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, you need to "begin with the end in mind." Successful people think with the end in mind which means that the beginning of any plan they have is the end. When you are clear about what you're aiming for, or what your target is, then it becomes easy to set a path and measure your progress.
When you don't know where you're going or what your final goal is, then you get stuck and lack enthusiasm. This is such an effective habit because you're able to see the end. You're able to relax knowing where your headed and be active in the present.
Certain opportunities only come once in a lifetime. So always be alert to opportunities and make yourself available to take them! A successful person makes it a habit to say "yes" to the opportunities they encounter--even if they are challenging.
Avoid negative people.
You must have noticed that negative people are far less likely to achieve high levels of success. According to prominent businessman Jim Rohn, we are an average of the five people we spend the most time with. This means that if you want to become prosperous, regardless of your definition of prosperity, you should spend time with positive-minded people and achievers who will support your goals. Avoid complainers, procrastinators, and ever-angry individuals since they always have a way of bringing others down.
Adopt the habit of never-ending improvement.
You need to ensure that you invest in reading every day. Set aside one hour a day that is dedicated to reading a book. Books can help you achieve your goals faster. For example, if you want to excel in the field of real estate investing, read two books about real estate investments in a month and within a year you will have read 24 books. Do you know how powerful this is? You will become an expert in your field, and, if you apply all the knowledge gained from the books, you will certainly accomplish your goals and make your dreams a reality.
Overall, successful individuals are people of action who follow their dreams without allowing disruptions in their way. No matter what task you wish to accomplish, following the same common habits of success will aid you in your personal quest.
My challenge for you this week:
Write down the goal that makes you excited. Now, think about the experience of your five senses once the goal is obtained.
With the end in mind, write down steps you will take to reach your goal.
Start the process of embracing opportunity through ensuring you are presenting yourself to others as someone receptive to new things, and to accepting help.
Make a list of negative individuals that drain your spirit and energy. Intentionally minimize or eliminate your exposure to them.
Commit to one hour of daily self-improvement. Write down how you will use this time.
The more consistent you are once accepting the challenge, the greater your momentum to accelerating your pace to become even more successful!
