How many times have you asked yourself, "What am I doing here?" or "Why am I unhappy?" Regardless of whether it is a job, a marriage, or just life in general that you are unhappy with, the one thing that you need to understand is that your behavior and your choices are the two factors responsible for where you are today.
The great thing about realizing this principle is that you can live the life you want--the life of your dreams--because you hold the key to happiness and prosperity in your hands. I trust that everyone reading this is still dreaming and living to fulfill those dreams!
Here are some steps you can take that will help you gain more control over your future:
Determine what your biggest problem is at the moment.
Pick an area of your life that you are unhappy with and create a picture in your mind showing exactly what you would like that particular area to look like. Be specific and don't be afraid to dream big.
Take a piece of paper and write down those things that you would like to change.
Now it's time to take action! Do whatever it takes to change the problem and don't let anything get in your way of implementing the changes you want.
It is important to always keep that picture in your mind of what you want, re-live that picture every day, and let the feeling of fulfillment and happiness grow stronger every time you reconstruct the end result in your head.
Stop blaming others for the failures in your life.
We have all experienced failures in life. Whether you admit it or not, chances are that you are responsible for most of them. You are indeed responsible for your attitude even when something occurs that is outside of your control.
Your attitude will determine your actions, and these actions will ultimately determine if you fail or succeed in each area of your life. Accepting responsibility and refusing to blame others will be a huge step toward taking control of your life. It will also be liberating because it means that other people will not be able to stop you from achieving your goals.
Ask yourself if anyone has hurt you in the past and make the decision to let it go.
Hanging on to feelings of resentment and bitterness can seriously hinder your chances of reaching your goals. It can also zap both energy and peace of mind from your life. Even if the person who wronged you has not asked for forgiveness, you can make the choice to let it go so that you will no longer dwell on it. Doing this can be tremendously liberating and empowering, which will then allow you to move on with your life.
In the end, success in life depends solely on you. Take charge of your own happiness and live life to the fullest!
My challenge for you this week is embedded in the article so I hope you didn't miss it! But, in case you did, your challenge is to take control of your life by implementing the three steps outlined.
P.S. Don't expect new results if you don't take on new challenges. You cannot remain the same no matter how hard you try! You are ever-evolving and transforming, for better or for worse.
