Get Control of Your Life!
The New Year is well underway and, if you've been reading these articles, you've already chosen the problem in your life that you intend to resolve, formulated your plan of action, and have started to act like a winner.
If you're one of those who haven't, then now is the time to do it! Not next week, not tomorrow, and not tonight...NOW! Why? Because your life is too valuable to act in contrast to that value assessment.
Too often, we put off making changes in our lives because we feel that the timing isn't right or that we're not ready yet. My answer to that is: Stop it!
Let me give you a few thoughts on what it takes to get and keep control of your life:
You will never accomplish anything that you don't start! You may be waiting for the right time, but I'm telling you that the time will never be perfect. If you keep waiting for the right time, you'll be on your death bed saying, "Not yet!"
A perfect time rarely comes for anyone and never comes for most people. You have got to step up to the plate and swing at the first ball that comes your way--even if you have to pitch it to yourself!
The only "right time" is right now!
Don't wait until you're "ready".
Maybe you don't feel like you're ready? Well, forget about being ready because you aren't and you won't be. You will never be completely prepared for every eventuality that might arise, so quit trying to be! Run with what you've got until you can get better. Learning from the hard knocks in life is just part of the process.
As some of you might have heard me say before, "Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly." Read the books, watch the videos, listen to the talks, and attend the seminars. All these things are great ways to learn but until you try it yourself, your education doesn't really begin. It's like saying you have faith but then, when a life challenge comes, you fall apart because you never anticipated that your faith would be tested.
Trust me, the first few times you attempt something new you could very well suck at it. If you don't, then consider yourself blessed because very few achieve proficiency without having obtained it through hard work. Driving a nail may look like a simple task but give it a try. You'll come away with a new respect for carpenters.
Once you start, don't ever stop!
You may need to change directions, you may decide to follow a different path, or you may even find a more worthwhile goal...but never quit making progress! Finding success in this world is all about building momentum. The faster and further you go, the easier it gets.
My challenge for you this week:
Get started now making a positive change in your life!
What is a "new thing" you want to make happen?
Start now by writing down the "new thing" and making an agreement that you will not quit!
Make a list of quotes, poems, or songs that you can use to inspire yourself when you feel like quitting.
Tell your closet friends to help you achieve your "new thing."
